Metric Measurement:
| 1 millimeter = about the width of pencil lead |
1 centimeter = about the width of your index finger |
| 1 meter = about the length of a child's arms when outstretched |
1 kilometer = around a city block |
| 1 centimeter = 10 millimeters |
1 meter = 100 centimeters |
| 1 meter = 1,000 millimeters |

Students should also be able to use a ruler to measure down
to 1/8 of an inch as well as measure in millimeters and centimeters.
Know that on a ruler 2/8 = 1/4 , 4/8 = 1/2 , 6/8 = 3/4 , 8/8 = 1 whole
